With the creation of the mural “sailing hammock” I intend to merge Painting and Architecture in favor of a new visual experience. Architecture is perceived as Painting. While inviting like an open gate to the new city, “sailing hammock” aims to allure the observer to see and to enter. — Franz Ackermann

Square Edge Inc. was instrumental in the execution of Sailing Hammock by Franz Ackermann, a large-scale mural that merges painting with architecture at the gateway of Miami Worldcenter. The project’s success required careful integration of artistic intent with complex site conditions, including façade preparation, installation logistics, and public visibility. Square Edge provided pre-construction site evaluation, value engineering input, and coordinated with the design, development, and curatorial teams to ensure the artwork’s seamless incorporation into the built environment. By managing construction schedules and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, Square Edge helped transform a structural surface into an experiential canvas—supporting Ackermann’s vision of architecture as an immersive, painterly invitation into the city.
